By John Callarman The Krum City Council Monday night christened its new quarters in two thirds of the former First United Bank building with a meeting that lasted less than half an hour. Incumbent Mayor Terri Wilson and incumbent Councilmember Joe Beall plus incoming Councilmember Michael Wilkes were sworn in. That they were running unopposed meant that no election was required. Wilkes takes over the council seat that’s been occupied for the past four years by Doyle Fletcher. Fletcher received a plaque expressing the city’s gratitude for his service. Officials from electric utility CoServ and the CoServ Charitable Foundation presented a check for $22,000 to the Krum Fire Department to help pay for a command vehicle that will be used to direct the department’s response at fire scenes and other emergency runs. An ordinance approving a negotiated resolution between the Oncor Steering Committee and Oncor Electric Delivery Co. on electric rates and a resolution affirming the settlement agreement reached as a result of the negotiations was passed. Krum was one of approximately 160 municipalities forming the steering committee. Oncor sought rates that would increase revenue by $353-million; the negotiations resulted in a $136.7-million increase. The estimated cost per household is 98 cents per month. With the first Mondays in July and September falling on holidays, the council voted to change both meetings to the following Wednesdays – July 6 and Sept. 7. During Citizens Agenda, the council heard a presentation by Karen Sunderland, who is organizing an Oct. 17 5-kilometer run in an effort to raise |
